134: With Every Beat of My Heart

It’s Valentine’s week — and what better time to talk about a broken heart? Specifically, mine.

After months of trying to figure out why my heart rate was slowing down, I finally learned the real cause wasn’t medication… it was a heart rhythm issue that required a pacemaker.

Yes, I now officially have upgraded bionics.

In this episode, I talk about:

  • Discovering bradycardia and heart rhythm problemsMeeting the third cardiologist who finally listened
  • The decision to get a pacemaker
  • Facing my fear of anesthesia
  • What it feels like to come out the other side

SPOILER ALERT: I didn’t die. Which means I’ll be back next week.

133: Icicle Brain

icicles against the sky

Hi my friends — yes, I’m still alive.

I’ve been working my way through some new medical nonsense, but I finally got this episode finished, and I’m hoping that means I can keep things moving again. In this one, I talk a little about what I’ve been dealing with lately, my renewed appreciation for both new and old writing, and the strange experience of dodging icicles and frozen trees like it’s some sort of low-budget action movie.

I hope you’re doing well out there. Let’s try to meet up again next week.
